AlarmForce is a home security system manufacturer and provider. Based in Toronto, Canada, AlarmForce has been offering home security services since 1988 in Canada as well as parts of the U.S. Unlike other security companies, AlarmForce does not contract or outsource their services. Instead their alarm systems, manufacture, installation, service, monitoring, sales and support, are all done internally. The company currently provides service to more than 250,000 people across North America, including several cities in the U.S., like Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, Atlanta, GA, Cleveland, OH, Charlotte, NC, and more.
Since the company provides its own equipment, customers do not purchase and own it; instead they “rent” it from AlarmForce for the length of their contract. According to AlarmForce’s website, the home security equipment is of “no value” to the customer without their patented service. When a contract is signed, an AlarmForce representative installs the home security equipment in the customer’s home. The equipment must be returned in order to fully end a contract. Searching for AlarmForce through most popular search engines returns several sites with complaints about the poor quality of the company’s alarm systems, as well as many other sites with nebulous reviews and unattributed commendations for the service. Many of the complaints cite poor battery life, poor motion detection, and poor speaker quality in the central units. On their website, AlarmForce says some existing home security systems that are not manufactured by them can be converted into AlarmForce systems.
