Don’t Blink at the Brink’s Company
Though no longer directly involved with home security, The Brink’s Company is still providing security, protection, and logistic services to companies and agencies throughout the world. The company is best known for its armored vehicles, which are used by banks and companies all over the world. The company was founded in 1859 in Chicago, Illinois as an armored transportation company and later transitioned to a security and logistics company with several different subsidiaries and functions.
One of those subsidiaries is Brink’s Home Security. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, Brink’s Home Security was established in 1983. In 2008, The Brink’s Company spun Brink’s Home Security into a separate publicly traded company, and then rebranded that company Broadview Security in 2009. Broadview Security provided home security and monitoring services to more than 1.3 million customers in the United States. In early 2010, Broadview Security was acquired by Tyco International, which also owns ADT Security. The acquisition brought together the two biggest names in home security.
Broadview Security is now part of ADT Security, offering the same comprehensive services ADT is known for, now to even more customers across the country. Though the Broadview name still exists, their services and offerings now reflect those of ADT, meaning customers can take advantage of ADT services like ADT Pulse with their Broadview Security system.
As for The Brink’s Company, they still provide security and security-related services to banks, retailers and other commercial and governmental customers all over the world. These services include armored car transportation, money processing, vaulting, long-distance transport of valuables, and more.
